This Week

Oct. 29-Nov. 2

Happy Halloween! What a fun day. The costume contest (put on by Charger Connections), the number of staff that dressed up, the pumpkin carving contest and karaoke party in SAC and the Day of the Dead celebration in Amy Wojkowski classroom...

A thank you from Sarah Haynes :

Sarah works in our Cafeteria. Thank you to all that purchased Pink Edison Shirts this October. All the proceeds were given to Sarah who has been beating her battle with Breast cancer this year. Just three weeks ago, Sarah had surgery and is on the road to recovery. We are so glad she is doing well and we hope to see you soon. Thank you to Suzy Mathieson for organizing this fundraiser and making sure we helped one of our own!

This email is from Sarah Haynes.

“I just wanted to thank you again for the breast cancer t-shirt and the monetary donations that went along with them! I was completely blown away by the staff's support and generosity! What I'm truly grateful for is knowing I'm not alone in this fight and I have you Chargers to Thank for that!!! ⚡⚡I'm healing nicely and more than halfway through in Winning this battle!! Looking forward to getting back to work soon ”

The Charger Band came home with its second 1st place win on Saturday!

Kristin Cooley would love to invite any and all staff to come watch the band compete in our last two competitions!

November 10: Semi-Finals at El Modena HS in Orange

> The band goes on at 1:02pm and the show is only about 10 minutes long. Awards are right after our performance at 1:30pm if you want to stick around and cheer!

> I would recommend arriving at least 30 minutes before as parking at competitions can be complicated. Parking at this comp will be in Staff Parking & Softball Lots, Prospect Elementary, and Grijalva Park.

> Tickets are $15 and can be purchased in advance on http://www.calstatebandchamps.org/, make sure you select "CSBC Semi Finals Division 2A and 5A at El Modena HS 18." Tickets can also be purchased at the gate.

November 17: Finals at Newport Harbor HS

> The performance time will be announced next week and I'll send an update at that time.

You may have seen the band at football games, but band competitions are totally different because you can actually hear them and fully appreciate their hard work!
